citydesert

I was very pleased today to find a comment about citydesert:

“I have just found this truly amazing blog, in which there is a veritable feast of information that many of you may like to look at. From the Romanian cave hermits, to a modern day anchoress who lived in a hut, following the war, attached to Walsingham, named Pinions…this blog is like an encyclopedia of those who choose the solitary path and dedicate their lives to following God. It is my pleasure to bring this blog to your attention.”

The blog is not intended to provide more than a little of my own material, but rather to serve as a clearinghouse, drawing attention to and providing material from other sources, many of them not readily identifiable as relating to the eremitical life, ancient and modern, or themes deriving from it. It is, indeed, intended to offer “an encyclopedia of those who choose the solitary path and dedicate their lives to following God.”

It now attracts some 300 readers a day, and has, on occasion, reached more than 600 a day. The blog was viewed about 83,000 times in 2014 according to the WordPress annual report, attracting viewers from 173 countries.

In the next few months I hope to improve and enhance the blog to make it more accessible, and to begin posting more frequently.
